ANNUAL SPRING SOCIAL

A smiling group of FTVA stalwarts gathered for the FTVA annual spring social on April 12, 2008 at the Kelly Club. Members arrived to find Ken Williams welcoming everyone with a warm smile and a name tag. After Joe Hurst led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Chaplain Lt Col Keith presented the Invocation, FTVA President Chris Cook introduced the visiting dignitaries. Many of yesteryear’s AF intelligence specialists in the FTVA consider the silent warriors in service around the world today as part of its ongoing legacy. The AFISR Agency has a large number of its people who are serving worldwide, and especially now, in support of the counterinsurgency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. A highlight of the evening was when the FTVA recognized a small representative number of recent AFISR Agency returnees from the Afghan/Iraqi area. To say “thank you, FTVA Vice President Sue Douglas presented each military representative with a monogrammed hat in commemoration of AFISR 60th Anniversary.

Long-time FTVA members attending the Social enjoyed a buffet while visiting with old friends and meeting new ones. President Chris Cook introduced Col (ret) Greg Roman as our visiting guest speaker. Col Roman’s illustrious career in the intelligence business began as a graduate of the AF Academy and continued with an uninterrupted series of assignments in the intelligence community. His slideshow presentation was in a very entertaining and informative commentary on over 20 years of USAFSS/ESC/AIA history.
