1. 1. June 19, 2020 FTVA Board of Directors' Meeting: After establishing a quorum, President Evan Smith called the virtual meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. using the online program Zoom.

2. ATTENDANCE:

3. MINUTES: The May 2020 Draft Meeting Minutes were reviewed and approved as written.

4. TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer Lee Anthony provided the report, to be archived for audit/review.

6. OLD BUSINESS:

  1. FTVA Membership Drive: Still looking for a government/military representative to assist. Item CLOSED.
  2. Status of TSgt Ernie Parrish plaque in BALA: Tabled until after the COVID-19 issue stabilizes.
  3. Potential for Memorial Plaque in BALA for Maj Ransom: Tabled until after the COVID-19 issue stabilizes.
  4. Codifying Memorialization Process: Tabled until after the COVID-19 issue stabilizes.
  5. Follow-up on business insurance coverage/quotes: Original quote was for main FTVA, but after brief discussion today decision was made to go back to get a quote that includes chapters. Updated quote should be available next meeting. POC: Bill Brockmiller.
  6. Larson Awards Way-Ahead: UOPEN, awaiting decisions by 16 AF/CCC.
  7. Codify 16 AF relationship with FTVA: Issue has been presented to 16 AF/JAG and they are assessing to determine what the relationship will look like going forward. Item OPEN, POC: Evan Smith
  8. New Fallen Eagles POC: After short discussion, Joseph “Pepito” Figueroa stepped up to assume the role.
  9. FTVA Hats and Coins: AOpen, pending direction and way-ahead from 16 AF.
  10. FTVA Membership Cards and Envelopes: After short discussion on the need to update, motion was made, seconded, and approved to allocate up to $2000 to purchase new items.
  11. FTVA Membership Directory: Decision was made to distribute a copy of the membership directory once per year. POC: Roy Burnett.

7. NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Contingency Planning for Anniversary Week: After lengthy discussion, decision was made to cancel all events, which is in line with 16 AF and ACC guidance concerning public gatherings. The Hall of Honor selection will proceed as normal, with nominee names submitted to 16 AF/CC for approval. Ideas were submitted on best way to honor those who will be selected for 2020, given there will be no formal ceremony. Those who will be selected for 2020 will be honored publicly in 2021 along with the 2021 selectees. Other forms of recognition are under discussion separately.
  2. Collaborating with AFCEA and/or Cyber Texas: FTVA President Evan Smith recently met with Texas Cyber and AFCEA representatives to pursue possible options for teaming with them. Texas Cyber is establishing their own Hall of Honor program, and AJ Harrison volunteered to meet with them to share our process and historical success. Other ideas are under consideration on how to synergize relationships. OPEN: POC Evan Smith.
  3. FTVA Value Statement: Given the current social climate, many organizations are publishing value statements to clarify positions regarding ongoing issues of concern. Greg Roman collaborated with Evan Smith to draft an FTVA Value Statement. After short discussion, the draft Value Statement was approved as written, and Roy will publish that on our website.

8. CORRESPONDENCE: Not discussed.

9. AROUND THE ROOM: Not discussed.

10. The virtual Zoom meeting timed out at 1340. Roy immediately tried to create a new FTVA BOD meeting, but most of the members were unable to rejoin. Due to technical difficulties, the meeting ended at 1340. The next FTVA BOD meeting will probably be held virtually using Zoom, on Friday the 17th of July at 1300.
