4. OLD BUSINESS
a. CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS. The documents are updated and posted on the FTVA website. There will be copies available at the annual general membership meeting in September when the documents are presented for a vote to approve the new version.
b. FTVA Website blocked on NIPRNET. The network administrators are blocking as much as they can, and our FTVA website is blocked from viewing at work on the NIPRNET. Col Toussaint will take for action and engage with AFISRA/A6 to pursue a solution.
c. The last SECURITY SERVICE Airman in Uniform. Maj Marcos Garcia from AFISRA/A1 filed a formal query with AFPC with negative results. Next step is to pursue through the Air Force Senior Leadership Management Office to see who is still in uniform that served under USAFSS. Lt Gen Koziol may be the last remaining USAFSS member in uniform.
d. Anniversary planning update. Everything is on track and looking good.
5. NEW BUSINESS.
a. AFISRA Honor Guard annual honorarium. After brief discussion that centered mostly on how the Security Hill Honor Guard Team takes such great care of us, motion was made, seconded, and approved to provide them with $2000 for 2009.
b. Chaplain Knutsen, AFISRA Chaplain, is retiring soon. He might be a good fit for FTVA.
c. 2009 Veteran's Creative Arts Festival will be held in San Antonio. They are looking for donations of time and/or money. Linda Roque from AFISRA Protocol office is volunteering to serve as our conduit into that function.
a. Letter from Andy Leech to sign up for a lifetime membership. He is the Director of the Navy/USMC Relief Society in Port Everett, WA.
b. Letter from John L. Porter to also sign up for a lifetime membership.
c. Letter from a widow of an FTVA Fallen Eagle describing the challenges of taking care of everything that is required when a retired member passes away. Good reminder for all of us to take care of as much of that bureaucratic paperwork in advance as possible. Some good information on the following websites:
The first one lists contacts for reporting the death of a retiree:
Second is a soup to nuts list of contacts for various topics:
Third and perhaps most important is a checklist for us to fill out and give to those who will likely survive us:
Additionally, the local Retiree Affairs Office is a great resource too. Lackland has a good one located in the MPF facility. It's website is:
8. AROUND THE ROOM.
a. Col Hank Toussaint discussed several current topics of interest to include the Cyber NAF that will be headquartered in San Antonio, the new BG list has three intel officers on it, and AFISRA/CC commissioned a fantastic new video, Col Kimminau, acting Air Force ISR Agency Vice Commander, PCSs this summer. Mr Get, the Air Force ISR Agency Civilian Advisor to the Commander, moves on this summer,
b. Wayne Amman from AFISRA/PA passed out Fiesta Medallions for everyone and thanked FTVA for our continued support.
c. Jim McLendon presented the updated Vigilant Partners list and discussed ways to energize this program.
9. There being no further business, motion was made, seconded, and approved to adjourn at 1500. Next meeting will be June 19, 2009 in the SSFCU Board Room, starting at 1330.
